In England alone, 15 %, or 5.1 million adults are 'functionally illiterate.' However, people need to be able to get information from the government or employer. This gap can actually cause real harm in the form of anxiety, poor financial and life decisions. Therefore, we acknowledge the necessity to simplify official texts in English (and Dutch). We are exploring the possibilities of text mining and Machine Learning to achieve this goal.

We intend to provide a ready-to-use product in the form of a mobile app. With our app, users can take a picture of the piece of text which they do not understand. Then using our AI text mining algorithms it will provide the same text but translated into simpler language in text or even audio forms.
